Poultry : 12.5 gm per 10 liters of drinking water for 5-7 days.
Animals : 12.5 gm per 80 kilogram body weight twice daily for 5-7 days. |

| Salient features |
- Doxicycline is lipophilic, resulting in higher tissue penetration, larger volumes of distribution and better overall antimicrobial properties
- Doxicycline being excreted mainly in faeces, is the ideal for treating susceptible infections when renal failure or renal insufficiency is a complicating factor in antimicrobial therapy.
- Doxicycline has greater plasma protein binding which produces a prolonged half life of the drug.
- Neomycin is the drug of choice for treating serious aerobic gram negative infections.
- Neomycin is used to treat or prevent the bacterial infections of the intestine.

| Indications |
Poultry :
Chronic respiratory disease (CRD), E.Coli infections, fowl cholera, Pullorum disease, infectious synovitis and prevention of early chick mortality.
Cattle, goat and sheep :
Respiratory tract infections, haemorrhagic septicaemia, black quarter, anthrax, bacterial enteritis, foot rot, wound, pneumonia and secondary bacterial infections due to viral diseases. |

| Administration and dosage |
Animals : 10-20 mg per kilogram body weight for 3 - 5 days to be given as drench only.
Poultry :
Prevention of early chick mortality : 1 g per 10 liters of water for 3-4 days or as directed by the veterianarian
During stress as a prophylactic treatment : 1 g per 10 liters of water for growers
layers and breeders, repeat on requirement.
In severe infections : 1 g per 5 liters of water for 4-5 days.
Double dose should be given on the first day for quick results or as recommended by the veterinarian. |
