CLOPROSTENOL INJECTION I.P. 250 mcg/mL

Treatment Protocol:

SINGLE injection Program: Palpate for Corpus Luteum. Inject PregMate only in those animals having Corpus Luteum (CL). Breed / A.I. after the animal comes to heat (normally 72-96 hours after injecting PregMate).

TWO injections Program:

Day 1: Inject PregMate. Detect heat. Breed / A.I. at 72-96 hours after induction of heat
Day 11: Inject PregMate to all those animals which did not exhibit heat after Day 1 of the injection. Inject PregMate on Day 11 again. Breed / A.I. at 72-96 hours after induction of heat.

Therapeutic program:

Induction of parturition should take place as close to the expected calving date as possible and not more than 10 days before. All treated animals (along with PregMate plus other treatment regimen) must receive adequate supervision.

Dosages and administration:

Cattle & Buffaloes: 2 mL (500 mcg) by intramuscular route.

Mares:

Single intramuscular Injection of 0.5 – 1 mL for mares weighing up to 400 kg body weight
Single intramuscular Injection of 1 – 2 mL intramuscular Injection for mares weighing more than 400 kg body weight

Sheep & Goat: 0.5 mL (125 mcg) by intramuscular route

Sow: 0.7 mL (175 mcg) by intramuscular route (for induction of parturition)

PRECAUTIONS:

There is a refractory period of 4 to 5days before and after ovulation when animals are insensitive to the luteolytic effect of prostaglandins and do not respond to treatment.
PregMate should not be administered to pregnant animals where foetus is not to be aborted. Accidental administration of PregMate can lead to threatened abortion in pregnant animals.
Intravenous route of administration is not recommended.
PregMate can be absorbed through the skin and therefore, care should be taken while handling the product, especially by pregnant women and asthmatics. In case of accidental spillage on skin, wash immediately with plenty of water.
Prostaglandin F2 may cause bronchospasm in man, although the possible incidence of this effect with PregMate is not known. However if the bronchial spasms result from accidental inhalation or injection, a rapid acting bronchodilator or salbutamol inhaler may be used, under medical supervision.
In horses, reaction including sweating (occurring within about 20 minutes of treatment), increased respiratory and cardiac rates, and signs of abdominal discomfort, watery diarrhea and depression may be observed when exceptionally high doses are given. However, these reactions are usually transient.
PregMate should not be administered to Mares suffering from acute or sub acute disorders of gastrointestinal tract, Mares suffering from acute or subacute respiratory disease, and Pregnant mares.
